Directions

Fire Island Seashore is a thin, long barrier island running along the southern side of Long Island — about halfway to the Hamptons.

There are a number of "communities" all along Fire Island Seashore. We will be in the communities of Fire Island Pines and Cherry Grove.  The wedding ceremony and reception will be in Cherry Grove, and most of us will stay in Fire Island Pines.

Fire Island Pines is accessible only by boat, utilizing a ferry service from Sayville, NY, on Long Island — about a 20 minute ferry ride.

Sayville is accessible by train (the Long Island Rail Road) or by car. You can take the train from Manhattan (Penn Station) or from Brooklyn (Jamaica Station).

Cars are not permitted in the Pines, so if you drive to Sayville, you would park your car at the ferry service parking lot.

We will post the summer train and summer ferry schedules here in April once they are available from the authorities.

Fire Island Pines is approximately 2 hours travel from Manhattan each way. These are your overnight or day trip options:

Option #1. The Madison Boutique Hotel

We have all the rooms blocked off at The Madison, a 9-room premium boutique hotel in Fire Island Pines. This is the best option for our straight friends and family, especially those visiting from out of town. Our guests will enjoy a 15% discount on the published rates with a 2-night minimum required.

Option #2. Vacation Rental Home

Fire Island Pines is predominantly vacation rental homes — typically 3-4 bedroom homes that can sleep 6-10 people. Once we have a better idea of headcount, we will help facilitate the rental of a few homes and the matching of small groups to stay in them. They would have a range of prices depending on how nice the house is and the size of each room.

OPTION #3. MAKE IT A DAY TRIP

If you don't want to deal with overnight accommodations, you could make it a day trip. We would suggest timing your transportation to make the Noon or 1:00 pm ferry from Sayville to the Pines (it's a 20-minute ferry ride), and you can depart from the Pines after the party in the evening.  The ferries are typically every hour, with the last one departing around 1o or 11 pm. We will post the ferry and train schedules above in the "Travel" section around mid April.

OPTION #4. OTHER HOTELS ON FIRE ISLAND

There aren't a lot of other hotel options in Fire Island Pines or Cherry Grove, but here are the ones we'd recommend:

Dune Point Rentals

This is a small, casual hotel property in Cherry Grove, very close to the Sand Castle Restaurant where the ceremony and reception will be held.

Belvedere Guest House for Men

As the name implies, this is a men-only hotel on the Cherry Grove side of Fire Island. It is clothing optional and a bit more on the hedonistic side if that's your flavor.
