How We Met
We met on July, 8 2012, on a ferry to Sandy Hook beach, making eye contact for the first time somewhere between Wall Street Pier and the Statue of Liberty. It was the perfect first date -- sunny, unplanned and serendipitous.
Our Engagement
We were engaged on May 2, 2016, on a horse ride in Los Angeles, starting at Sunset Ranch and ending in Derek surprise proposing to Simone in a spot high up in Griffith Park, near the Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory.
Our Relationship
5 years. Apartments in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. Regular trips to Sardinia, California, Miami, and Fire Island -- our faves. Countless bowls of pasta. Federal marriage equality for 2 years. And one precious schnauzer. It's time.
